Seeing some animals was nice, even if they were mostly sleeping

Pros:

Favorite Thing:

The concept of having beautiful lights at a place which tries to help animals who have no other safe choice of a home, and use the money to help these animals and educate humans how to protect them.

I went here for the lights at the zoo, and while some of the animals needed to (understandably) sleep, it was such a great experience to see the ones that were out and about. The lights made the night and it had a special and unique feel to it. Normally one would think that a zoo would be closed in the winter but the animals looked happy and I'd be more than willing to go back in the daytime to see the ones I missed. Great visit!

Cons:

A cute lil zoo, took the kids and I about 2 hours to walk leisurely around. We were sad when we realized the fun was over. The layout is good and feels like you are finding something new at every turn. We went on a cloudy day first thing in the morning. It was almost perfect, we didn't see the Wolf's which was a disappointment. There are rides for little kids & a snack shack to get food. The gift shop has a variety of choices and not to badly priced for a zoo. We had fun. Check out some of my photos on my G+ page & follow to keep up with my adventures.

1. Animals are mostly not there at all or sleeping. While I enjoyed seeing them, I'll stick to going during the day.

We decided to go see the Christmas lights display at the zoo. What a nice experience this was. It was a cold night out but everyone had so much fun. Not only the staff made sure the lights are great but the animals they have are amazing. You have the opportunity to stop in front of every cage to look at them and take a picture. You can grab a bite while waiting for a picture with Santa at the North Pole. Just a nice place for the whole family. I would greatly recommend for everyone who wants to go out and do something different this holiday season.

4. $10??? Not worth it for what they are giving you. Please take put more of the money towards the actual displays and less towards advertisement. You are getting people in, they're just not leaving very pleased.

3. The displays are not lit up. You are looking at dark boxes of stuff, that used to be lit up when it was at the house of the family who donated these. I loved that display as a child and it's what prompted us to go. Unfortunately, the Zoo hasn't bothered to light them up... I have NO idea why. Some may think "Oh, they're old so they just don't work anymore" Not an excuse. Most of the pieces are the old ceramic kind with holes on the back or bottom, which can have bulbs inserted. They could, at the very least, put lights around the pieces, not just on the outside of the boxes, which causes a reflection, blocking you from seeing in. This is a zoo, aren't there scientists? This is basic science.

Great idea for an attraction, in theory.

5. The lights on the houses on the Fells on the drive in are much more impressive.

2. The same arrangement of lights on a bunch of the trees, not much else

Last Words:

This place was amazing! So much fun for kids and even adults have fun too! The only thing is, the ladies who sell you the picture you take with Santa are very rude and miserable. Other than that, everything is great!

For all the hype this was very disappointing. People want to support this, the organizers need to do a better job of giving them something closer to what they expect. Hire someone who knows how to install lights aesthetically. There are plenty of artists in Boston who would do this for pennies.
